Karen didn't start out with the intention of becoming an expert in local government law and operations. What began as an interest in hometown leaders developed into a career focused on supporting the people that make our communities work. After decades of working inside of government channels, she decided to leverage her 30+ years of experience to open Karen White Consulting, a business focused on empowering Louisiana's local government leaders through education, technical assistance, training, and operational support services.
Our Story
We know that local elected and appointed officials chose public service based on their passion to see their communities thrive. As thought leader John C. Maxwell aptly noted, "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way."

Meet Karen
As owner and manager of Karen White Consulting, Karen brings over 30 years of legal and municipal expertise. A Baton Rouge native, she inherited a love of public service from her parents, who served in myriad roles from law enforcement to local grant-writing.
A graduate of LSU Law School and a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Karen has been practicing law since 1998 and is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in the state. A recognized expert in municipal government issues, she is also a poised speaker and lecturer, having taught more than 300 hours of content on government operations, transparency, leadership, effective communications, and workplace professionalism.
Karen served as Director of the Office of Rural Development and was appointed as the Governor’s Designee to the Delta Regional Authority, where she led efforts to strengthen rural communities statewide.
For two decades, Karen was a cornerstone of the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA), where she held leadership roles in legislative advocacy, education, and public relations.
